WHAT TO EXPECT

You will represent the subject area of communication design with a focus on editorial design, i.e. the conception and design of journalistic formats for transmedia, multimedia and hypermedia communication of information and knowledge.

You will operate in the field of tension between a concept of truth based on facts and scientific knowledge and the concept of fiction, which integrates narrative forms and symbolic communication.

Specifically, you will teach your students both the theory and practice of the range of journalistic formats and their meaningful strategic use for communication.

The question of how we can defend the liberal order against the threats and effects of disinformation, misinformation and counterfactual communication will be at the heart of your teaching and research.

You will also research and teach how designers in existing or future journalistic formats reach a wide range of audiences, successfully making information accessible and complexity understandable.

At the same time, you will continue to develop your teaching and research in recognition of the highly dynamic processes of change in technology and society.

YOUR BACKGROUND

Your expertise is based on a university degree in design or a similar discipline.

You are able to demonstrate a relevant practical portfolio of outstanding quality. Although a doctorate is desirable, it is not a mandatory requirement for recruitment.

Your professional profile is closely related to design, and you undertake design from an interdisciplinary perspective

You will also have several years’ professional experience in the design industry outside academia, ideally complemented by teaching experience at university level.

Experience abroad would be an additional asset, as well as good contacts with international universities and institutions.

You will work closely with other schools and departments, integrating multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives into your teaching and research. In doing so, you will also work closely with external partners in academia and industry.

You will support our internationalisation strategy with your ability to deliver courses with excellent written and spoken English and your global perspective.

You will play an active role in our academic self-governance and the development of FH Münster, using your organisational talent and strong networking skills.

WE OFFER YOU

This permanent W2 professorship on civil servant conditions will enable you to make a valuable contribution to teaching, research and university management.

Our extensive professional development portfolio will give you the opportunity to continually develop your skills.

Our family-friendly conditions ensure that you can strike the perfect work-life balance.

You can look forward to an exciting challenge as part of a collegial team, with dedicated colleagues to support you from the very beginning.
