Professorship for “Integrated Principles of Design”

What to expect:
- In the Design programme, you will teach the fundamentals and principles of design in an interdisciplinary way, based on sound pedagogical principles. In addition to two-, three- and four-dimensional areas of design, you will focus on object-, space-, media- and time-based digital and analogue areas of application.
- You understand design practice as a process of reflection and experience, and will teach not only approaches based on design methodology, but also the fundamentals of the design process.
- You will coordinate, organise and be responsible for the content of the subject “Principles of Design”, which you will develop continuously as part of a team.
- You will be involved in approaches to extracurricular teaching and learning formats, the transfer of research findings, and collaborative activities with the private sector, institutions and other schools and departments.
- Last but not least, you will play an active role in academic self-government and be responsible for organising welcome sessions for first-year students.
Your background:
- As a basis, you have a Diplom or master’s degree in the area of design.
- You are able to demonstrate a relevant practical portfolio of outstanding quality. Although a doctorate is desirable, it is not a mandatory requirement for recruitment.
- Thanks to several years of professional experience in a position of responsibility outside academia, you have developed into an individual with an outstanding track record in design.
- You are qualified to offer course content in the further course of the bachelor’s programme and/or master’s programmes, where possible.
- Strong teaching skills round off your impressive personal profile – ideally, you will have some teaching experience at a range of higher education institutions.
- You have a good command of English, professional experience abroad, and are willing and able to teach in English. Good contacts to international higher education institutions are an added benefit.
