WHAT TO EXPECT

You will teach the fundamentals and advanced applications of traffic engineering and modelling in your department’s bachelor’s and master’s programmes.

In this context, you will teach students about telematics, traffic flow simulations, traffic control and management, and traffic data analysis.

We are confident that you are the ideal person to develop and deliver new modules related to automated driving and enhance existing courses.

We also count on your commitment to expanding the research activities of our Transport Research Group and strengthening our position among experts in the field.

In addition, you will participate in expert committees such as the German Road and Transportation Research Association (FGSV), the German Association of Road and Transport Engineers (VSVI), and similar bodies.

You will contribute your expertise and constructive ideas to collaborative work within our department, as well as getting involved in university self-government.

YOUR BACKGROUND

Your expertise is based on a degree in civil engineering or a comparable qualification with a focus on transport, as well as a recognised doctorate.

You have several years of professional experience in traffic engineering and/or microscopic and macroscopic traffic modelling.

In addition to your teaching and research responsibilities, you will be keen to participate in the annual “Verkehrstag Münsterland” conference.

It would also be desirable for you to have experience of teaching in higher education, as well as a willingness to support the university’s internationalisation strategy by delivering courses in English.

Ideally, you have experience in applying for research projects and an extensive network of practice partners.

You should also have a basic knowledge of, and experience in or with, the conceptual design of public transport systems.

WE OFFER YOU

This permanent W2 professorship on civil servant conditions will enable you to make a valuable contribution to teaching, research and university management.

Our extensive professional development portfolio gives you the opportunity to continually develop your skills.

Our family-friendly conditions ensure that you can strike a perfect work-life balance.

You can look forward to an exciting challenge as part of a collegial team, with dedicated colleagues to support you from the very beginning.
